Seablite – “Melancholy Molly”

Avatar

Another good one that slipped through the cracks, this first single from the Bay Area’s shoegaze set Seablite finds the band pushing as close to pop as they ever have. The first thought that comes to mind when the single hits the speakers is Lush, with the band’s vocals lost in the haze and a propulsive, yet dancey beat anchoring the song to the speakers. Yet, the band push past the obvious touchstones and looming shadow of the genre to create a single that feels ripped out of time, lost in the foam and froth of an endless ache. The new album, Lemon Lights, is out September 29th from Mt. St. Mtn.
