Rosali – “Rewind”

Been a good year (already) for deserving folks getting their due, and it’s great to see site favorite Rosali announce a new album this Spring for Merge Records. Much like her bandmate David Nance’s bump to Third Man, the wider acclaim in well deserved. Nance joins Rosali once again on Bite Down, the songwriter’s fourth album (fifth if you count the Chokeweed cassette). With a tour-hardened band behind her the songwriter amiably follows up her breakthrough, No Medium, from 2021. “Rewind,” the album’s first single is a bit more lived-in and limber than some of the works on that record. No Medium had its road-worn moments, but there was a crushed ember of regret at its core — a notion of working through one’s shit. “Rewind” is by turns resigned, almost relaxed. Could be just a respite, but its a welcome one at that. Though the album is called Bite Down, so there’s every indication that the title’s teeth will flash once again. The new album lands March 22nd from Merge.
