Private Lives – “Hit Record”

Montreal’s Private Lives return with the second single off of their upcoming scorcher, Hit Record. The title track offers up a sunburnt singe of punk, hung on whiplash clash of guitars and the soul-stung vocals of Jackie Blenkarn. The album feels indebted to the alt-punk fizz of the ‘90s, sliding on the shelf quite nicely next to copies of The Muffs, Veruca Salt, and Helium, but the band don’t spend time retreading old routes for long. The searing riffs of “Hit Record” barrel into the listener from the first moments, and leave an imprint all their own by the time the track skids to a halt. The band’s new record is out July 14th from Feel It Records.
