Maybel – “Matters”

Been loving every new single out of the new record from Canadian folk outfit Maybel. The band’s new record, Gloam, deals with growing, changing, and worry. It’s a vulnerable record besot with strums and stacked harmonies. The spare beauty of “Matters” cuts to the heart of what makes Maybel so endearing. With a ramble of banjo beneath the bittersweet bite of the vocals, the song builds to a swell of steel and keys, moving from wounded to wondrous in the space of four and a half minutes. The Montreal band’s sophomore record is on its way out soon, arriving October 27th from Idée Fixe Records.
