Mapache – “What A Summer”

A second single from the upcoming new record from Mapache hits this morning and it’s just the dose of bittersweet bliss that early summer called for. While we’re just getting started, “What A Summer” takes a more wistful tone, looking back with fondness, encapsulating the magic that the band experienced recording the record on the grounds of Panoramic Studios. The environs make an appearance in the accompanying video, capturing the pastoral beauty of the studio’s surroundings. The song leans into the band’s country impulses, wandering into Bob Weir, Jim Sullivan, and Neil Young territory in the song’s wearied drawl. The new record, Swinging Stars, is out August 18th from Innovative Leisure.
