Luggage – “Hand is Bad”

Avatar

An arid scrape cuts deep on the first new track out of Chicago’s Luggage. The band’s latest LP will land on perennial RSTB fave Amish Records in September. The title track off of the upcoming Hand is Bad is built around gnawing rhythms — owing its fair share of debt to Shellac and The Pop Group. Like the latter, the mood is sanded to the bone. The air is thick with grease, gravel, and charred iron, as the band offers up post-punk in the most minimalist of molds. Michael Vallera’s vocals pool in chemical swirls, tightly coiled pockets of poison among the band’s seething fury. The new record arrives September 29th but you can get a taste of the tension below.
