Been some time since Jessica Pratt’s been on the speakers, and the enigmatic L.A. songwriter follows up her 2019 album Quiet Signs this year with the promise of the upcoming Here In The Pitch. Tumbling through the haze with a drum patter that’s siphoned from the specter of The Crystals, “Life Is” mixes that swooning ‘60s saunter with a sun-bleached soul that comes on like an out of body experience. It’s easy to feel oneself float above your feet while the song is playing in the background, watching the highlights of your life flicker by in Super 8 saturation. The new song is just the first peek into the new record, which arrives May 3rd from Mexican Summer and City Slang.
