If you’ve kept an eye on UK jangle of late then Prefect Records’ sterling catalog has certainly crossed your path. The label has been key in parsing out ex-Joanna Gruesome bands now splitting time between Ex-Vöid and The Tubs. The latter have now made their way Stateside with a new EP, Names, for Trouble in Mind. The first taste of the EP is the wire-wound jangler “Two Person Love,” a track that’s pulling from both ‘60s folk-pop and ‘80s post-punk, but making the alchemy seem effortless. The harmonies soar and there’s a shagginess to it that digs through some of the new wave of Aussie jangle-pop as well. The switch between barbed guitars and pounding jangles creates a tensions that matches their Prefect single, making them one’s to keep an eye on for sure. The new EP is out July 30th.
