Tarotplane – “Aeonium”

Avatar

The options for Tarotplane in 2022 are mounting, with the cycles of Light Self All Others already released and another album, The Ektacrhome Dawn, on the way from Tonight’s Dream in September. But even that seems too slim a year for PJ Dorsey, who’s saved one of his best for an upcoming release on Constellation Tatsu later on in the year. A bit of a follow-up to his 2019 album The Feedback Sutras, the album splits its focus between longform cosmic float and a flip side that attempts to step into the shoes of his influences .— in particular, Manuel Gottsching this time. This week the label has let loose the A-side, “Aeonium.” The track moves with a velvet patience, letting PJ’s guitar slide fog-slicked riffs down the window panes. It’s hung with a meditative air, though the meditations seem more like taking stock of regrets than opening oneself up to the vastness of the universe. The record arrives on September 22nd.
