Superblooms – “Let Me Go”
Got a new one today featuring an old site favorite. Bobby Hussy has been found around these parts as part of The Hussy, Wristwatch, Whippets, Cave Curse and more. He returns this month with a new outfit, Superblooms featuring fellow Midwestern fixtures Sarah Pray (Carrellee), and Dead Luke (Non-Travellin Band, Zola Jesus). On “Let Me Go” the band taps into a smudged and smeared vision of the ‘90s indie legacy — flirting with shoegaze, but landing much more squarely in the Mazzy Star/Opal end of the pool. The song starts out slow and atmospheric, Carrellee’s vocals hanging atop the sauntered strums before the song slips into a plume of fuzz, the guitars glowing like embers among smoke. The new single is out today from No Coast.
