Steve Gunn – “Dust Filled Room” (Bill Fay Cover)

Dead Oceans has continues to foster the legacy of Bill Fay. Over the last decade, the label has brought light to his early works and issued new albums from the English singer. Anyone just getting familiar with his early ‘70s albums is usually caught off guard with their openness and intellect. In 2010 Fay issued a collection of demos and home recordings from his ‘70s period on Canadian label Jnana. Dead Oceans is reissuing it, bringing it back to life once more. The collection finds many of his songs in a more unfettered, intimate light, making the recordings a priceless treasure box for fans. The new reissue, which will also include two volumes on LP will be accompanied by sets of singles covered by newer acolytes of Fay’s. With this announcement of vol. 1 Steve Gunn and Kevin Morby step up with their takes on “Dust Filled Room” and “I Hear You Calling” both from Fay’s masterpiece Time Of The Last Persecution.
