UK quartet Sister Wives have been cranking out some biting singles over the past few years and the band makes the bump up to full length with the announcement of Y Gawres. The first single from the album, “Greater Place,” finds the band refining their sound from previous EPs. Pounding drums and buzzing organs create a din like buzzing insects before a wash of fuzz guitars floods the speakers. The song growls with a sinister glee. It revels in the ritualistic pacing — post-punk scarred with runes. The album’s title translates to “The Giantess,” the record itself inspired by Welsh mythology. The first single is entrancing, can’t wait to see what wonders open up over the course of the rest. Y Gawres is out October 28th from Libertino Records.
