Pearl Charles – “Deja Vu”
by Andy
Following up on one of my already-attested favorites of the year, Pearl Charles offers up a one-off (or hint at something new on the way?) in the form of “Deja Vu.” The song, co-written with fellow West Coast crooner Trevor Beld Jimenez, melds both artists’ penchant for breezy melodies and ‘70s sonic tapestries. With her assembled crew of studio slingers on hand, Charles plays into the silken strains of melancholy that balance between velvet-draped pop and sun-burnt country. The song hits like a cheap beer snuck in the employee lounge at a summer job in an opulent resort. Pearl continues to play both the jukebox staple and lost classic in one. Nab the single now in support of her West Coast tour.
