This lovely cut from Lou Turner (aka Lauren Turner of Styrofoam Winos) laid down in the headphones early last week and it was tough not to get to share it until now. Turner’s lilting folk is as gorgeous as ever. The entire SW crew finds their way into the works of her upcoming new album, Microcosmos. The record is shaggy and threadbare on the surface, but meticulously put together. The title track comes across in patchwork perfection, stitched with the image of wandering souls, weaving songwriting like Callahan, Berman, and Case, a folk footprint that doesn’t necessarily walk the line straight. The song deals with finding the spiritual in the infinitesimal, small miracles everywhere. Her new album is out September 2nd from Spinster.
