One more excellent single winds its way out today from Haylie Hostetter’s Lady Apple Tree. “Flame” finds the West Coast songwriter blending lilting ‘50s country and folk with the sepia tones of the Canyon years that followed. The song pairs a gallop of guitar with mournful pedal steel, provided by Connor ‘Catfish’ Gallaher (Tim Heidecker, The Myrrors). They underpin Haylie’s heartbreaking delivery, highlighting her timeless style that carries throughout the record. Alongside Connor’s contributions Cameron Knowler and Ryan Miller (Pearl Charles, Michael Rault) also feature on Hostetter’s debut EP. The eponymous record arrives September 15th.
