Kate Bollinger – “Who Am I But Someone”
Quite liking the aesthetics of this one. “Who Am I But Someone” precedes Kate Bollinger’s upcoming EP Look At It In The Light, her Ghostly International debut. As the ‘60s tone to the video might imply, the song has a bit of a faded, classic appeal, recast into a newer pop package. Shades of Weyes Blood, Drugdealer, and Jess Williamson filtered through just a touch of the crisp appeal to slightly older bastions of the sound like Nobody and the Mystic Chords of Memory. The song has a slinkiness to it, but falls into a breathy, reclined pop feeling — a sun-faded afternoon stretch that’s got a lot of promise. Down to the design on the album, I’m feeling the xeroxed pop palette here. The new EP is out April 22nd.
