Another Aussie crimper on the way from perennial fount of great tunes, Spoilsport Records today. Melbourne’s Hooper Cresent pair rumpled guitars with a streaked neon splash of keys for a track that’s propulsive and potent. Some splahes of sax round out the charms here as “Best in Town” wriggles its way into our collective hearts. The band weaves clamor with a deft hand, finding a balance between dance-driven post-punk and noise-pop peaks on the track. They pair the song wit hthe dizzying clip from Rachel Feery — a suburban sprawl that acts as a counterpoint to the track’s frantic beat. The new single is out now.
