Been missing the grit of Country Westerns since their 2020 debut, an album that carved crusted tattoo of alt-country on the year. The band is back today with a new single, again rolled in the leather and liquor of country rock but with a jagged scar of 90’s alternative roughing up the sound. Produced by Matt Sweeney, “Money On The Table” snaps out of the speakers with a steely stare. One part Uncle Tuepelo one part Replacements, with a last call growl to it. There’s a swagger to the song, a dose of Endless Booogie’s six-day cough in the vocals. Sweeney and the band seem to make a perfect paring and here’s hoping the song is the setup to a new album on the way.
