Blue Ranger – “Wicked Curtain”
by Andy
Albany’s Blue Ranger clamber into the arms of country for their latest single. With a touch of twang, the band pairs a slow saunter with a bit of yearning that can’t help but bring a melancholy grin to the listener’s face. The song is unhurried, reclining in its own graces, pushed by the snap of Matt Griffin’s drums and the lacquered lushness of Joshua F. Marré’s guitar. The song evokes and a looseness and ease that’s emblematic of their Upstate environs. It’s full of sun off the river, and breezes over the distant green peaks. Summer’s on it’s way, but with “Wicked Curtain,” it feels like it’s already here. The band’s new album, Close Your Eyes, is out March 29th from Ruination Records.
