Asher White – “Downstate Prairie”

Exploding into the room with a cacophonous blast, the first single from Asher White’s upcoming Home Constellation Study is a rapturous blend of noise, psych-pop, and indie. “Downstate Prairie” won’t sit still and that’s much to its credit. Opening with the aforementioned corrosive chords, the song then swoons into hammock-swung folk before chucking the song back off the cliff. White’s pop is constantly tossed by her pop tempest, churning and chewing on phrases. It pushes through manic moments but always comes back to soothe. The new album is on the way June 28th, a collaborative release from Feeding Tube and Ba Da Bing.
