RSTB favorite Jake Robertson (School Damage, Ausmuteants, Hierophants) returns under his guise of Alien Nosejob. The moniker has served as a rotating genre exercise that lets Robertson try on a few pop hats — having scratched some electronic, dub, and punk itches in the past. For his latest he scrubs up the sound, entering the studio with Mikey Young for a wash of New Wave and ‘80s-indebted punk. The first single bolts out of the gate with a brashness that recalls Magazine with just a touch of early Devo dashed on top. “Leather Gunn” is chewing wire with the best of them, tangling its guitars into a mangled wreck of riffs and angles while Robertson barks out an ecstatic riot of vocals over the top. The new album is out as a split release between Feel It and Anti-Fade. Paint It Clear lands in the racks on November 12th.
