Wonderful Aspiration of the Source – “Cadence”

This little bit of calm also snuck out while I was away last week, a new project from RSTB favorite Michael Hix (Nashville Ambient Ensemble). Sitting solo these days, Hix has taken on the moniker Wonderful Aspiration of the Source, further embracing the meditative center of his works. Stripping back from the ensemble’s large scale orchestrations, the new project centers on Hix playing a B-Bender guitar. Aloft somewhere between ambient country and jazz, the first single from his upcoming debut swims in the same warm waters as the pedal steel stunners that have become so prevalent lately. The record was recorded by revor Nikrant (Styrofoam Winos), live at The Golden Tone Zone in Nashville, Tennessee, giving the record an tender immediacy that wafts through the speakers. The eponymous new record is out September 19th from Centripetal Force.
