Time Thief – “A Brief History of Ordinary Letdowns”

A second sweet jangler out of Providence’s Time Thief hits this week and its just as addictive as the first. The duo excels at tapping into the bittersweet blur of indie pop’s past, culling from the 53rd & 3rd, Sarah, and K Recs catalogs with particular love for Tiger Trap and Talulah Gosh with a spillover into Lookout for some Go Sailor nods slipped in the seams. “A Brief History of Ordinary Letdowns” finds the band on the most tender side of that spectrum, slowly spinning the listener under the mirror ball sway of their strums. Atop the sauntered snap of drums, the band’s James Walsh recalls a litany of disappointments. The band’s debut EP is out September 12th from Musical Fanzine Records.
