The Telephone Numbers – “Ebb Tide”

The second single from the Slumberland stable today comes from longtime faves, The Telephone Numbers. The SF band have shored up their second album proper, and the first couple of tastes of their overcast jangle hit all the right notes of bittersweet bliss. “Ebb Tide” has a slippery bit of slide among the jangles and it gives the song just the right aura to tug at the heart. There are a lot of indie pop outfits that have embraced the light, but The Telephone Numbers, like their contemporary and often collaborator Glenn Donaldson, prefer the more melancholy side of the spectrum. There’s no better single to sigh to then “Ebb Tide” this week. The new album, Scarecrow II, is out October 10th from Slumberland.
