The Telephone Numbers – “Battle of Blythe Road”

Another perfectly faded jangler slips out from the upcoming Telephone Numbers album. The band, long an RSTB favorite, has been working their way up to a sophomore LP for Slumberland. “Battle for Blythe Road” digs into the band’s penchant for pillowed harmonies and strums sent swimming in a sea of synths. This time around the band lends a sweet touch of strings that throws tethers between the cinematic sweep of ‘80s standouts like The Go-Betweens and Felt. Each new single leading up to the release of Scarecrow II has been received with eager ears, and their latest does little to temper the anticipation for the new album. It’s a somber-stained gem that finds the band at their bittersweet best. The new record is out October 10th from Slumberland.
