The Reds, Pinks, and Purples – “New Leaf”
Just barely letting Glenn’s last album leave the senses and he’s got another cued up, a tireless troubadour if there ever was one. The first single marks his upcoming album for Fire Records as a deeper departure. Noting that this record took 8 months to come together, the first single feels like a turning point for The Reds, Pinks and Purples. The jangles fade into the background, replaced by clouded atmospheres, the pluck of strings, and a soft cascade of keys. The anchor of resignation remains, a melancholy that pools in puddles at the base of the speakers. Among the tender anguish of “New Leaf,” Donaldson’s vocals still coat the soul in overcast curls. Can’t wait to see how the rest of the album unfolds. The new single is out now from Fire, with more news on the record to come.
