The Cords – “Fabulist”

Pretty sure I’ve said it before, but I’ll give it one more; it’s been a banner year for Slumberland Records. After a packed first half of the year, rife with year-ender contenders, the label locks down one more with the first single from UK duo The Cords. I’ve heard some great rumblings from those abroad about the band and their first single for the label all but confirms the whispers. “Fabulist” is bright and buoyant, a jangler in high regard that feels out its debts to Talulah Gosh, The Primitives, and Tiger Trap, soaring through the speakers like a bolt of pure sunshine. The single sets up an upcoming eponymous album, out September 26th in a now familiar split between Slumberland and Skep Wax.
