Optic Sink – “Construction”

Topside, the new single from Optic Sink is an exploration of control, grasping for something infinitely desired but always just out of reach. Below the surface, though, the song sways towards the sinister, a synthpop whirlpool that drags the listener into the depths of ‘80s horror soundtracks and Mute Records minimal wave wonders. The entropy of the subject matter is ably mirrored in the taut rhythms and pulsing synths that clash at the listener with a mechanical thrum. There’s a hypnotic pulse to “Construction” and the band pulls the listener deeper into their delirium as the song tightens its hold. “Construction” crushes its iciness into a hypnotic sleep walk serenade that’s got enough chill in it to feel right at home in October’s embrace. The song slips out on the band’s new album, Lucky Number, out October 31st from Feel It Records.
