Modern Nature – “Alpenglow”

Every new single out of the upcoming Modern Nature solidifies its status as one of the band’s best. Following the epic sweep of “Source,” the band settles into the quietude and creep of “Alpenglow.” The song ruminates on unseen forces both man-made and natural. Over a subtly burbling guitar line, the song ponders the perils and pearls just below the surface, unseen hands and the figures of figments. As the band’s Jack Cooper explains, “It’s about borders, folklore magic and letting something feel euphoric at the expense of logic.” The song seeps out of the woodwork, rhythmic and hypnotic, it’s own unseen forces playing at the listener without them ever realizing it. The band’s new album, The Heat Warps, is out August 29th from Bella Union and the new single comes along with news of an East Coast leg of their tour next January.
