Leah Senior – “People Pleaser”

I finally got the chance to see Leah Senior this year on a tour that brought her through with Simon Joyner, an absolutely captivating live show that only serves to deepen the impact of her recordings. Some of the show’s most affecting highlights find the band hanging back, her voice filling the room easily over strums. Following up her 2023 album, a new single echoes this effect from the start. A spare and pared back song that centers on Senior and her haunting lyrics before a steady pulse and sea-legged guitar give the song some shading. The single is the first that finds her paired with Third Eye Stimuli, the increasingly deep-benched Aussie label that’s home to RSTB faves Stephen Bailey, Winter McQuinn, and Hot Apple Band. The new single is out now, hopefully just a taste of what’s to come.
