Josie – “If You”
It’s been an indie pop heavy week, so I’m going to grab one more I missed on vacation. Danish band Josie send out another sweetly-stung single from their debut LP. “If You” jangles just as brightly as their last couple of singles, a loving return to the Sarah, Sha La La, and 53rd & 3rd era. There’s a bit of a cooler color to “If You.” It’s a shadier shot, not quite as saturated in sun, but the band still soaks those chords in the hues of Talulah Gosh, Tiger Trap, and Dolly Mixture. They pair it with a twee vid that dreams through some childhood animation.
“‘If You,'” is a song in the familiar jangly twee-landscape, but slowed all the way down, dreaming its way into a soft, pillowy, melodic universe,” notes singer/guitarist Charlotte. “There’s always room for another break-up song, and honestly, this is our achiest, heartbreakiest gut-punchiest sobber as of yet.” The new album, A Life On Sweets Alone, is out September 26th from K Records.
