Giant Day – “King of Ghosts”
Following quick on last year’s pop pearl, Glass Narcissus, Giant Day keep the E6 flame alive with a new single, “King of Ghosts.” Slinking through the speakers with a silken post-disco decadence, the single is wracked with a nocturnal dose of dance. The bass pulses as the band mops the sweat from 80s cut out singles and dancefloor squigglers. Jamey Robinson from Buffalo Stance adds a shimmer of synth to the mix, solidifying the song’s dayglo flicker. The band notes that “This song reminds us of the Kazan movie “A Face In The Crowd”, about a power-hungry populist cult leader. He ends up destroying every relationship in his world in order to dominate it… feels topical.” They pair the piece with the dark corridors of their new video. The single surfaces on the band’s new album, Alarm, out October 6th from Elephant 6.
