Brower – “My Father’s Name Was Cat”

Avatar

Missed this one when it first tumbled down the spike earlier in the year, but have no fear, as Queens’ Brower embarks on an EU tour the glam smacked video for “My Father’s Name Was Cat” enters the fray. The song is crunched with a glam groove and glitter-dotted at the edges of their naturalist aesthetic. The song smashes a bit of Hubble Bubble and Brett Smiley lip gloss into Tommy James’ “Draggin’ The Line” mentality, floating above the fray with a quiet cool and a less than hammered approach to the worn but welcome grooves of glam. The band centers around Nat Brower, also of lo-fi snappers Nancy and its clear that he’s taking a bit of their buzz into the boogie boat with Brower. The band takes off for European shores this week but rounds back for a hometown set with at The Market Hotel next month. Grab a listen to this fizzer above.
