The Reds, Pinks and Purples – “Heaven Of Love”
Following an excellent first single and a hint of an album, The Reds, Pinks and Purples are back today with a confirmed new record for Fire this spring. Following a collection of singles culled for the label last year, Glenn Donaldson dives into his first work proper for the new label. Like its counterpart last month, “Heaven of Love” finds Donaldson exploring darker emotional territory, scrubbing away some of the soft jangles of the past for aqueous atmospheres. The smudges of Felt are pushed to the edges as an admitted love of The Go-Betweens and American Music Club takes over on the new album. “Heaven of Love” sways through headphones like a melancholy friend. The song’s sighs of unrequited anguish are lost and found in the sonic surf that Glenn sets up behind them. The new record’s shaping up to be one of his best. Acknowledge Kindness is out April 24th from Fire Records.
