The Far Sound – “Let Warmth Turn Inward”

Another favorite from the Centripetal Force roster returns to the packed rolls of 2025. Steel guitarist Rick Pedrosa (Abronia, Federale, Jeffrey Silverstein, Rose City Band) struck out solo back in 2023 as The Far Sound. The project took the otherworldly sound of steel and turned it away from its expectations in country, and even skirted its flirtations with jazz for an album that explored the simmer of psychedelics. The first taste of the upcoming, To Heart, To Earth, finds Pedrosa on a similar path, traversing endless expanses of psychic desert, searching for clarity among the heatstroke and harshness. The steel can’t help but pull its compass towards Western sensibilities, but Pedrosa fills his landscapes with tangles of Rag, Turkish psychedelia, and nods to Morricone and Seastones. The new record surfaces later this winter, out November 2nd from Centripetal Force.
