Jeff Tobias – “Political Solution”

Following on the ecstatic anti-imperialist pop pounce of his first single, Jeff Tobias slows the pace but not the pressure for “Political Solution.” The second single from the upcoming One Hundredfold Now in This Age glimmers atop synths and the steady slink of bass, but underneath the gloss the song explores the failure of our systems, the decay of promises that were never deeper than the dermis to begin with. Punctuated with prickly strings and an internalized, dissonant curdle,, the song holds on to hope but runs through the gauntlet of disillusionment and disappointment. It succeeded in its subversive sway, proffering Prince odes for those who’ve been failed by the system at every turn. Jeff’s new album is out October 17th.
