Zach Tenorio – “What’d It Take”
by Andy

A nice addendum to the recently released Taper’s Choice LP. The band’s keyboardist, Zachary Tenorio (Arc Iris, Taper’s Choice) offers up a solo slab for bandmate Dave Harrington’s imprint Maximum Overdub. Sliding though the prog valley with stops though propulsive electronics and funk, the first single from the album hurtles the listener through a sea of keys, lock n loop drums, and vocal snippets that whirl the listener around the room in a kaleidoscope of colors. Clipping from Neo-soul, hip-hop, prog, and the heart of Big Beat, the song feels like a kindred spirit to Toro y Moi if he upped the caffeine. The new record, Field Trip, is out November 21st from Maximum Overdub.
