Wendy Eisenberg – “Will You Dare”
A slightly different side of Wendy Eisenberg today on a standalone single that leans into Americana. Fans of Eisenberg’s past works laced with jazz touches and experimental angles, her work with Bill Orcutt’s Quartet, or the crushed glass bite of Editrix might be surprised by the wind-blown hues of “Will You Dare.” A touch of ‘70s folk and country are at the core here and it’s a side that works well on the accomplished songwriter. Honeyed sighs and slow-amble pacing lace the song with a melancholy air, giving it a beautiful late-summer sway. Rounded out with some Wurlitzer from Eisenberg and soft steel purrs from Mari Rubio, the song slips nicely among the new country fare. I’m hoping that, while this is standalone for now, there’s more to come somewhere down the line. The new single is out now from Joyful Noise.
