Vorhex Angel – “Spring”

After bubbling under live for a few years, there’s finally some solid sonic evince of Vorhex Angel out in the wild this week. Ostensibly an extension of the universe of JEFF The Brotherhood, the band contains both Jake and Jamin Orrall, who have turned to the new name following the end of The Brotherhood’s run with Warner. Bringing in longtime foil and RSTB fave Kunal Prakash (Silver Synthetic, Esther Rose), the band has turned towards something noisier, grittier, and more chaotic in the last few years. New single “Spring” exemplifies this shift, a song soiled in noise and catapulted on an entropic mission from the first chords. The band takes a page from Eastern psychedelics for the band, feeling like kindred spirits to High Rise, White Heaven, Les Rallizes Dénudés, and Fushitsusha. If PSF were amassing a new roster, they’d definitely be looking to Vorhex Angel. The band is working to avoid major streaming markets, so for now the new single is available from artist-forward service Nina. The band’s debut album, Heavenly is out November 7th from ELECTRIC OUTLET.
