Vanity Mirror – “The Apple Tree”

A new single from Vanity Mirror finds them coasting from the ‘60s towards the early ‘70s, lobbing a lounged ballad that brings to mind Wings and Badfinger. “The Apple Tree” would fit right in among the roster of the label that bears it’s namesake, letting rain-streaked piano spar with fuzz-tone leads and some beautifully broken-hearted harmonies. It’s finds the band more in line with the woodgrain goodness of Hot Apple Band or Winter McQuinn’s cavalcade of Aussie stars that came out earlier this year. The new single slips out this week with the new album, Super Fluff Forever, out October 24th from Having Fun/We Are Busy Bodies.
