Triptides – “Spooky”

I’m not always a sucker for a seasonally appropriate track, but this psych-pop swinger from Triptides feels like it it fits into the Halloween playlist and transcends it entirely. The song instantly sticks to the soul, a kindred spirit to The First Edition’s “Just Dropped In.” Riding the band’s recent trend of keys-forward, smooth-runners, the song has an undeniable swagger to it. Laced in the band’s ‘60s pop aesthetics, the organ groove carries the track like a wave. Paired with a cut n’ paste stop-motion video from Andrew Colin Beck, the whole package is about as fun as you’re bound to get on a Monday. The new single is out now and the band has a new EP on the way shortly, a follow-up to this year’s excellent Shapeshifter.
