The Native Cats – “Lose Count”

It’s always great to see a return from Tasmanian rippers Native Cats. The band slipped out a 7” last week and it’s already climbing the play counts over here. The double dose of a single has singe at both ends, but the b-side, “Lose Count,” brings the kind of crush I’ve come to expect from the band. Hung on the throb of Julian Teakle’s bass and the heart-crushing vocals of singer Chloe Alison Escott, the cut pounds in the ears like blood ready to boil. A barbed and serrated bout of post-punk pound, “Lose Count” sneers and swipes at the listener, a single that doesn’t take any prisoners and takes even less shit. The band continues to be the premiere importer of grayscale invective and one of the South-Hemi’s finest. The new single is out now from Rough Skies.
