The Myrrors – “Land Back”

Couldn’t have much better news (musically speaking) than word that The Myrrors have come out of their slumber for a new album. The Sonoran band has long been staple around here, but have been relatively quiet for the past few years. Founding members N.R. Safi (Naujawanan Baidar) and Grant Beyschau (Tambourinen, Pirámides) reunited with viola player Miguel Urbina and the result is the blistering, bristling Land Back. The title track serves as a first taste of the new album, an anti-colonialist anthem that’s the kind of rallying cry needed these days. The band blends drone, spiritual jazz, and high plains psychedelics into a monster of a maelstrom that uses the title as a mantra, cut with venom and vitriol. The band’s always had a raw edge to them, but “Land Back” feels like The Myrrors at their most ferocious, sharpening their teeth for the fights ahead. The new album, Land Back, its out August 9th from Radio Khiyaban (EU), A.U.M. (North America), and Cardinal Fuzz Records (UK).
