Street Fruit – “Back of the Line”

Another great single seeps out from L.A.’s Street Fruit today. The band’s last single was the psych scorcher “Drug Face,” a prickly psych-pop pummeler doused in scented smoke, but for the the second taste of the album, they play things more straightforward. “Back of the Line” captures the grit and grind of the aughts guitar revival, slinging sinewy lines and shout along choruses. It’s a dark alley, late night cut, soaked in summer sweat and fighting for life under the flickering streetlights. The band make it sound fresh, wiping the blood off the strings with each heavy hook. The band’s sophomore album, Strange Tanks, is out August 15th from Slouch Records.
