The Sha La Das – “Stop Using My Love”
Following an album on Dunham/Daptone and a string of singles for the ‘Tone, Staten Island soul-dipped doo wop outfit The Sha La Das deliver a tear-stained single from a new album for Diamond West. “Stop Using My Love” offers a lived in aura, a cracked leather lacquer that feels like this song has been seeping out of the AM for years now. Feeling like a ‘60s-styled heartbreaker that lingered in mind before finally coming to fruition in the ‘70s, the band knows just how to creep into the cigarette burns of lost gem soundtrack soul. The single’s out now on 45 with an album on the way from Diamond West, produced by Thomas Brenneck (Charles Bradley, The Budos Band), called Your Picture. It’s out December 5th. You can also hear the second single, “Do You Remember When,” out today.
