Smote – “Snodgerss”
UK outfit Smote has steadily built a reputation for singed psychedelics over the last few years. The band taps into a rural unease, a festering blight on the surface of the natural world, deep shamanic rituals that pound through bone and and bile. The records tie psych-folk and drone together into something more sinister. The aura of unease returns for the second single from his upcoming album, Songs From The Free House. “Snodgerss” starts in a vernal vein, flutes whispering over warm air, but the smoke quickly turns sour. A growl emerges followed by the furrowed pound of drums saturated in pestilence. The ravages are at the root of the cut and it feels like something supernatural come to take its tithe. The new album is out October 17th from Rocket Recordings.
