Sister Wives – “YnCanu”
by Andy

A haunting new scorcher from Sheffield’s Sister Wives today. The song explores Welsh folklore, recounting the tale of a lost opera singer thought to be haunting the cliffs near Cemaes, a vivid specter that curses the industrial anchorings of Wylfa nuclear power station. Harder than the band’s usual crush, there’s turbulence in the guitars on “YnCanu,” crashing into the cliffs with an unnatural force. The song churns, turning the group’s coven-clad appeal towards darker moorings. The song marries folk trappings to the cosmic singe of Hawkwind and the insistent rhythms of Can. Sung in vocalist Donna Lee’s native Welsh language, the song is out today via Libertino.
