Setting – “Heard A Bubble”

Lovely to see news of a new Setting album this morning. The North Carolina trio has been carving the crevices between folk, electronic, and experimental impulses for years now, both in the studio and live forums. The band returns to the studio for their latest endeavor, layering synths, strings, loops, and percussive pulses together into a hypnotic array that captivates the listener. The first single from the new album laps at rhythm, a propulsive dip into German Progressive that sutures syncopation to banjo n’ bluster in beautiful hues. The cut cracks into the eponymous new album with a hypnotic hum, a perfect continuation of what they’ve been working up live over the last few years. The new album is out April 24th from Thrill Jockey.
