Sessa – Vale a Pena
by Andy
This week’s off to a smooth start and new music from RSTB fave Sessa only sweetens the deal. The São Paulo songwriter offers up a smoky new track, rolling “Vale a Pena” in ‘70s strings and soundtrack sax. The song slinks through the speakers, a nocturnal cut built for basement clubs and haloed street lights. Sayeg’s works have skirted jazz in the past, but the new album strips away some of the more folk touches for a velveteen feel that’s hooked on mahogany basslines and cinematic swells. The song slips out today with an appropriately grainy video and the new album, Pequena Vertigem de Amor, arrives November 7th on Mexican Summer.
