Sessa – “Nome de Deus”
by Andy
A second new single from Sessa finds the São Paulo songwriter moving further towards the propulsion of samba. While usually tied up in a tangle of strings, slung low and lean, the new record puts a more prevalent emphasis on piano. The instrument punctuates new single, “Nome de Deus,” an urgent voice rising above the percolating bass and hand-hammered percussion. The song bubbles, a caffeinated clamor crawling the listener out of Sessa’s usual calm aura. The studio-set video pulls back the curtain for the listener, letting us in the kitchen behind Sergio Sayeg’s sonic stew. The new record, Pequena Vertigem de Amor, is out November 7th from Mexican Summer.
